Rock Cave Road rollover crash in southern Upshur injurers driver

CRAWFORD(WV) – At approximately 8:49 a.m. Tuesday morning the Upshur County Communications Center dispatched Banks District and Adrian Volunteer Fire Department firefighters along with Upshur County EMS and law enforcement to a single vehicle crash in the 2900 block of Rock Cave Road in the Crawford community in southern Upshur County.

First arriving firefighters discovered that a Subaru Forester traveling south on Rock Cave Road had crossed over into the northbound lane before careening over an embankment resulting in a rollover before coming to rest on its side, which resulted in the entrapment of the driver requiring extrication.

The driver of the vehicle was initially examined at the scene by fire medical personnel along with Upshur EMS crew members before being transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic on Rock Cave Road was shut down for a brief period as firefighters and other emergency first responders worked the crash scene.

No additional information, to include the name of the driver of the vehicle, their respective medical condition nor the proximate cause of the crash is being released.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the crash investigation.
