Kristina Jenean Swecker, age 32, of Cleveland, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Upshur County on November 7, 1985, a daughter of Jeff and Karen Moffatt Swecker, who survive. Also surviving is one brother Jonas Swecker and wife Trishany of Culloden, WV; maternal grandparents: Don and Opalene Moffatt of Webster Springs; paternal grandparents: Edwell and Roxie Swecker of Cleveland; her loving boyfriend Jonathan Alsop of Huntington; niece Aubree and nephew Owen; several cousins; and countless friends.
Kristina was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and was one of the YES Club leaders and a cheerleading coach at Hacker Valley Elementary School. She fought a hard, life-long battle against cystic fibrosis. She remained positive throughout her illness, never letting it slow her down, and even organized many Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraisers. She was a Christian, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and was an active member of the Hacker Valley Baptist Church, where she loved to sing to her Lord. She enjoyed teaching and coordinating Vacation Bible School at her church and loved to play music.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 4-7:00 PM, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The body will be moved to the Hacker Valley Baptist Church on Friday, December 1, 2017, where she will lie in state from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, the funeral hour with Evangelist Alva Blankenship and Pastor John Elbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Replete Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Swecker family has entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with the arrangements.

Conchita “Connie” Sylvia Tucci Karnavas, 83, of Cary, NC, formerly of Weston, passed away peacefully on November 22, 1017 in the Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, NC.

Connie was born in Weston on January 19, 1934 a daughter of the late Sylvio Amerigo Tucci and Evelyn J. Ostrand Tucci.

Her feisty, fun-loving nature will be carried on by her daughter, Lisa Marks and husband, Michael of Cary, NC; three grandchildren: Sarah, Daniel, and Raleen Marks; five siblings: Marcia Tucci of Anaheim Hills, CA, Barbara Ferris and husband, Henry, of Massachusetts, Julie Hewitt and husband, Michael, of Richwood, Alan Tucci of Weston, and James Tucci of Weston; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, who loved her beyond words, and will miss her beyond measure.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jackie Fealey.

Connie’s Italian grandparents, Angelo Antonio Tucci and Erminia Salvino Tucci owned and operated AA Tucci Store on West Second St. in Weston for many years, and Connie lived above the store throughout her childhood. She graduated from Weston High School, and at the age of 23, she moved to Hollywood, California, on a dare, and worked at a TV Station where she met several stars, including Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, and Elvis. She spent most of her career working in human resources at the City of Hope Cancer Research Center in Duarte, CA, where she also sang in a choir with her friends. She later retired after many years of service so that she could devote her time, love and energy to help raise her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She believed that laughter was the best medicine, music was good for the soul, and a relaxing day meant curling up with a great book.

Connie’s request for cremation has been honored. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Weston at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 with Reverend James R. DeViese Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Machpelah Cemetery in Weston.

Frederick Gene Rice, Jr., age 56, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

He was born September 12, 1961 in Elmira, NY, a son of the late Frederick Gene and Martha Lee White Rice. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Deborah Butts and one brother, Clifford A. Rice. He is survived by one sister, Trina Rossi and husband Anthony of Elkins, WV and one brother Donald E. Rice of Tuscaloosa, AL.

Emma Joanne Fallon (nee: Peterson), 82 years of age, and a resident of Sandusky, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.

She was born June 23, 1935 in Weston, West Virginia.  Joanne was raised and lived in West Virginia before moving to South Amherst.  She had made her home in Florida, Georgia and South Amherst for forty-two years before moving to Sandusky where she had resided for the last five years.

Joanne was employed as a billing clerk at Nordson Corporation in Amherst for eighteen years.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky.  Joanne had a passion for rug hooking and had belonged to some local clubs.  She was known to be an excellent cook.  Joanne loved being a grandmother and her family and friends were her constant source of joy.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-two years Lawrence “Leo” L. Fallon; her daughter Sheila Watson (Damon) of Goodyear, Arizona; her grandchildren Adam Prosak Renton, WA and Aaron Prosak (Meredith) of Fall Branch, TN; her brother Kenneth Peterson (Karen) of Glouchester, Virginia; her sister Kae Smith (Jerry) of Avella, Pennsylvania; her nephews Scott Peterson, John Peterson, Rick Peterson, Brian Smith, Mark Smith, Skip Wilson, Jason Wilson, Kevin Gould and Kenneth Gould; her brother and sister in law; Terry Gould of Buckhannon, West Virginia and Judy Wilson (Al) of Brasselton, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her son Lawrence W. Fallon on November 3, 2003; her parents Erlo and Lucy Jo Peterson (nee: Osburn).

Friends may call Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.  Additional Calling hours will be held Sunday,  December 3, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair  Funeral Home;  95 S. Norma Maine Huber, 86, of Buckhannon, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 27, 2017.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 7, 1931 a daughter of the late Margaret and Walter Maine. On August 2, 1952, she married Frank Huber and they shared 58 wonderful years before his passing on April 7, 2011.

She is survived by three sons: Michael Huber and wife, Cheryl, of Pendleton, SC; David Huber of Greenville, NC; and James Huber and wife, Debbie of Buckhannon, WV; four grandchildren: Dustin Huber, Alicia Huber, Leah Huber Hardee and Jillian Huber; three great grandchildren; Allison, Madison and Dustin Jr.; and one great grand dog, Toby.

Norma lived a very full and exciting life. She worked at an advertising company in New York City, NY, and went on to be a special education school teacher in Westport, CT, and Hensonville, NY. In Clearwater, FL, she worked for an ad agency. She retired to Kill Devil Hills, NC, where she took her favorite part time job working in the gift shop at Bode Island Lighthouse. She resided in Greenville, NC, for about two years before returning home to Buckhannon, WV. Her most recent position was at the Wendy’s in Buckhannon, WV, where she was known as “The Hostess with the Mostess”. She enjoyed many activities such as sightseeing, scuba diving, snorkeling and was a read-a-loud volunteer in Buckhannon. Norma was a beautiful soul and never knew a stranger, as she befriended everyone she met.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Peter Maine.

Fletcher Ernest Cosner, age 74, of Weston, WV died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Bridgeport Health Care Center in Bridgeport, WV.

He was born December 26, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Fletcher Vernon and Isabella Jeffries Cosner. He is survived by three sons, Christopher Cosner and wife Carla of Buckhannon, WV, Franklin Cosner and wife Carolyn of Fairmont, WV and Robert Bishop; two granddaughters, Kristen and Kylie Cosner both of Buckhannon; four grandchildren, Savannah, Samarria, Dillon and Katon; two brothers, Bob and Jimmy Cosner both of Weston and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cosner was a painter.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating.  Burial will follow in the Long Point Cemetery in Walkersville, WV.

Donald Layne Brown, 68, currently of Ellamore, WV, and previously of Dillon, Colorado, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV.

He was born November 12, 1949, a son of the late Junior C. and Doris L. Booth Brown.

Donald is survived by one son, Wayne Emanuel Brown of Warrenton, VA; two grandchildren: Ragen and Caden Brown; three siblings Ronald W. Brown and wife, Karen, of Buckhannon, WV; Charles D. Brown and wife, Brenda, of Christiansburg, VA; and Robin L. Tenney and husband, Basil, of Ellamore, WV; two nieces: Kendra Wilson and husband, Dustin; and Jonnie Newcomb and husband, Jonathan; two nephews: Jason Tenney and wife, Holly; and Chad Tenney and wife, Lynn; and many good friends in Colorado.

In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by one nephew, Jeremy Brown.

Donald loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed hiking the mountains of Colorado. He had an extraordinary bond with his twin brother and enjoyed hanging out with friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed just being alone with nature. He was full of spirit and had a great sense of humor.

In keeping with Donald’s wishes, Cremation Services have been honored. Private services will be held at a later date.

Mavadell Williams McDivitt, 77, of Summersville passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her residence.

She was born August 8, 1940 in Centralia, WV the daughter of the late Murl & Aretta Smith Williams. Also preceding her in death are sisters, twin, Clara Bell, Virginia Pullen, Leona Malcomb , Charlotte Demastus, Edith Garrison, Eloise Workman; brothers, Ed Williams, Delbert Williams, Paul Williams; son-in-law, Randal “Bones” Bennett.

Sarah Jean Crislip, 91 of Frametown, WV went to be with the Lord November 27, 2017.

She was born June 29, 1926 in Braxton County WV. She was the daughter of late Grover Cleveland Stout and Grace Cutlip.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell William Crislip and her brother, Gale Stout.

She was a life- long homemaker and loved to play gospel and country music.

She is survived by her only son, Danny L. Crislip of Sutton, WV; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Service will be noon Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Interment will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home.

Frank Price Radcliffe III, 69, of Kanawha St. in Glenville, WV departed this life at 6:30 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV following an extended illness. Born July 26, 1948 in Lewis County, WV; Frank is the son of the late Frank P. II and Louise Villers Radcliffe.
Frank was a graduate of Lewis County High School, class of 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Air Force with the rank of Sergeant. Frank worked for many years in the telecommunications industry as a Senior Technician and retired from Verizon Communications in 2003.
In his spare time, Frank loved riding and working on his motorcycle. He enjoyed working with electronics, tinkering with things, and the freedom of the open road.
On September 9, 2017 Frank was united in marriage to Greta Stalnaker Radcliffe, who survives at their Glenville home.
Surviving are 2 children, Rob Radcliffe (Wanda) of Brunswick, OH; and Sharon Webb (Dana) of Avon Lake, OH; and 4 grandchildren, Dehlia and Olivia Radcliffe of Brunswick, and Nathan Spence and Lily Webb of Avon Lake.
Also surviving is his sister, Angela Radcliffe-Hall of Kentucky and numerous other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother Staff SGT Donald E. Dotson USMC, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.
Per Frank’s request his body was cremated and the family will have a memorial services at a later date.

James Harvey Mounts, 49 of Cox’s Mills, WV departed this life suddenly over the Thanksgiving Holiday at his residence on Wolfpen Run Road. Born September 12, 1968 in Calhoun County, James is the son of the late Aubrey H. Sr. and Dorothy Allison Mounts.
James was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1987. He spent most of his working life as a farmhand having worked for the Zinn Farm in Cox’s Mills for the last 17 years. James was also a seasoned weed eater operator having helped with lawn care for almost everyone in the Cox’s Mills area.
In his spare time, James enjoyed hunting, ATV riding, tinkering with small engines, and spending time outdoors. James also had a special love for his 2 rabbit beagles, Barney and Julie.
Surviving is James twin sister, Thelma “Jean” Butcher (Kevin) of Cox’s Mills, 4 sisters Jewell Kathryn Jones (Chester) of Nobe, Carol Lynn Davis (Denver) of St. Marys, Sheryll Ann Tyler (Tim) of Illinois, and Karen Joyce Stephens of Glenville, and 2 brothers, Aubrey H. Mounts Jr. (Dollie) of Newton, and Terry Joe Mounts (Crystal) of Grantsville.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by 1 sister, Charlene Sue Smith.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 PM Friday, December 1, 2017 with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the 3 Poplar Cemetery on Holts Run Road, near Glenville. Friends will be received from 11-1 Friday at the mortuary.

Debra Lynn Brannon, 56, of Dixie, entered into rest Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Born December 2, 1960 in Gauley Bridge, she was the daughter of Delia (Elswick) Brannon of Dixie and the late Robert Brannon.

In addition to her mother, Debra is survived by her brothers, Robert Brannon of King George, VA and David Brannon of Westminster, MD.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with Minister Michael Belcher officiating.

Dahlia Marie Roop, 87, of Michigan, formerly of Jodie entered into rest Friday, November 24, 2017.

Born April 18, 1930 in Gamoca, WV, she was the daughter of the late William and Vergie (Kincaid) Hudnell.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Roop Jr.

Dahlia is survived by her daughters, Beth (Bud) Butcher, Dorothy Butcher, and Lisa Roberts; sons, David  (Vonda) Roop, Ted (Brenda) Roop and Paul Kevin (Mandy) Roop; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Jodie Baptist Church, Jodie, with Minister Larry Skaggs.  Burial will be in Rich Creek Cemetery, Jodi.

Friends may gather with family two hours prior to the funeral service at the church.
