Conservatives seem to be up in arms over Country Outlaw Willie Nelson taking part in a concert for Texas Democrat candidate Beto O’Rourke.
The rage is on to boycott Willie’s music. I’m surprised we haven’t seen the Internet filled with people burning their Willie records and T-shirts. That must just be for folks who have money to burn on new sneakers.
I’m not going to stop listening to Willie Nelson. As a Democrat I wouldn’t stop listening to his music even if he put a concert on for President Trump. That’s his business. I just like the music.
Getting back on point. Willie Nelson has been pro weed for as long as I can remember. I’m 52. Willie has never been a champion of conservative causes.
He said on his Facebook page “My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed.”
This isn’t the first time Nelson has supported O’Rourke. He brought the candidate on stage during his annual Fourth of July Picnic earlier this year.
He supported Obama, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in the past. He’s a friend of the environment, same sex marriage and of course… the legalization of weed. Those are just highlights of the past 10 years or so…
He led the anti-establishment movement in country music. I’m not entirely sure how those things add up to conservative.
